![]() ![]() I've heard otherwise, and I can only assume that these people aren't maxing out their settings, because it's pretty easy on the eyes with a Radeon 9800 Pro. Original title made it seem like I was asking for support.Let me say off the bat that Ryzom is a pretty game. arktribe and tribebak.Įdit: Deleted the earlier post. Note that tribes are saved as 10 digit numbers with the extensions. (1) There's also a 765*.arktributetribe file but I'm not 100% what that does (and have recovered characters without it). Alternatively it would offer a means for a GM to quickly verify the character transfer failed and rename the file (removing "_Ragnarok555") and done, player recovered, they have their tribe, imprints, levels, etc. If you character is lost? They could have a mechanism to automatically recover the file (and have it check Ragnarok 555 to see if your file exists there first). So your file 765-.arkprofile would be renamed: 765-_Ragnarok555.arkprofile when you travel to Ragnarok 555. What could Wild Card possibly do to prevent this?įor one they could simply rename player data files instead of deleting them. Needless to say I do weekly backups of all my players' character files. If you have a backup of the player data files but from a different ARK? They still will have imprints, but may need to be manually added to their tribe. They may lose what they had on their body but they can respawn and still own their tribe, dinos, imprints, etc. If you have a backup of the original player data files from the original ARK, you can re-copy them to the server save folder and be done. ![]() So after all that, what does it take to recover your character? If this process is interrupted then your character is deleted from your original server but the copy is not made or the copy is made but then the server rolls back to before your character file was there. The cloud data is then copied to the server you're transferring to, restoring your body bag somewhere in the new ARK and copying over your player data file. Then it DELETES it from the local server. Well the server uploads your player data file and body bag info to the cloud. What happens during a transfer when your character is lost? ![]() This is why when you create a new character, your old dinos don't recognize you for imprints, you have a different player ID! This file also contains a list of engrams you've learned, your xp, unlocked hairstyles and emotes, your dino order groups, and your player look info (proportions, skin color, hairstyle, etc). The file contains among other things the player ID which matches you to a body on the server (also how your dinos are imprinted to you). Some may recognize that as your steam ID! This is how when you log into a server the server can ID a character you own. This file is a number starting with 765 followed by 15 digits. This is saved as two files 765_.arkprofile and 765_.profilebak(1). This file is typically 30KB (sometimes as low as 5KB or as high as 45KB). This is why if someone loses their character during a transfer, others may say "wait! But I can see his body right here!" Well that's only half of it, and the less important half (really just your location on the map and the gear/items you had on you). This part is saved in the world save file (the ARK world save file is 20 - 500 MB in size since it also saves all structures, dinos, structure contents, etc). To start with, your character has two parts. After recovering several lost characters in our cluster (including two that were lost during their play time on official-legacy) I've learned a few things. With character loss being as devastating as it is I figured some folks would like to know what does it really take to recover a lost character. arkprofile file from the backup to the live server. Find out the player's Steam ID (765 number)Ģ. ![]()
